Juniors 3 to 16 years

Western Spirit Football Club is committed to providing quality and affordable football programs that enable our players to reach their football potential in a supportive and engaging environment.

As part of this vision, Western Spirit FC has undertaken changes to how player development is administered at the club and assists with implementing requirements of the FFA National Curriculum.

To achieve this Western Spirit FC has structured player development programs to ensure that we can maintain a clear focus on player development across five key areas that encompasses junior and senior development as well as ensure speciality positions such as goalkeepers are catered for.

Western Spirit FC also recognises the different needs of our female players and have included a Female Football Program that oversees the coaching and player development of our female players from the age of 9 and up.

The Junior Development Program was implemented in 2014 and cover all ages from 3 to 16 years.

Squirts - 3 to 5 Years

The Squirts program has been created to develop the football skills of players aged three (3) to five (5) years. This program will enhance the opportunities for young children to receive quality consistent coaching. The hope is that in acquiring basic skills participating children will not only learn correct technique, but also develop a love of the "world game".

Western Spirit Football Club has recently introduced this program for 3-5 year olds, and due to the positive feedback the club has received from this program, Western Spirit is pleased to be able to offer this program again in 2016

Each block runs for approximately six - eight weeks. Sessions are held Saturday mornings at our Camira venue from 8am to 9am.

Cost for the 6- 8 week program is $60.00 - $80.00 and includes a playing kit.

Dates for the Squirts program in 2016 will be posted on this site and our Facebook Page. For more information please contact registrar@spiritfc.com.au

Miniroos 5 to 11 Years

imageWestern Spirit Football Club will field competition teams in the Football Brisbane competition for ages Under 6 to Under 11 years, and offer social and competitive age groups for our under 9 and 11 years in 2016

During the sign on phase, players will have an option to trial for a place in our under 9 to 11 Komodo teams, or simply be placed in a social team with friends.

All age groups will be overseen by the Club's development program which will be managed by:

Mr Dave Gilman under 6 to 11 years

Miniroos is an initiative of Football Federation Australia (FFA)  for boys and girls aged 5 to 11 years to play football on smaller sized fields.

As players progress through age groups, fields sizes increase as well as the number of players that are able to take to the field. Goalkeepers are only introduced from the age of under 8 and above.

Games are designed to be fun and engaging allowing for frequent interchange of players providing maximum opportunities of game time and trying different positions.

The transition from MiniRoos to full field football is a giant step for many players, and Western Spirit FC will continue to work with our under 11 players to assist them with obtaining important information required to play on a full sized pitch under full FIFA rules. Additional training sessions will be held during the season to assist players in making the transition from MiniRoos to full sized fields.
